Coffee and Goals Illustration

Okay, I’m REALLY proud of this one. It’s much more of a simple illustration, but WOW did it turn out well for just 3 hours and some technical difficulty! It’s just been added to the ArtStation portfolio under a new album I’m creating for illustrations.

You may also notice that I’ve cleared out a lot of my older work from my ArtStation portfolio. I’m trying to keep it more recent and streamlined work so that it’s an accurate representation of my current skills and style.

As I may have mentioned, I’ve decided to start illustrating for my personal/crafting blog, Tea & Trinket. I SHOULD be illustrating for my blogs because, obvious, I draw and design and illustrate!

This particular illustration was for a post promoting my Ko-fi (which, if you’re interested, for the price of a cup of coffee, you help me continue to have materials to craft with and blog about). However, I liked it so much that it is now the banner image on my blog.

It’s been a while.

Things in my life got crazy after GDC.

My full-time employer laid off a third of the company, myself included. This definitely threw me for a loop and I’ve been trying to recover from the blow to my financial security since then, while also working to find what makes me happy enough that I can do it for a living.

I won’t lie, phone and email support was not what makes my heart sing. It was a job that paid well, but it was a very stressful position to be in. I was looking for other income while I was there, but the news that they had terminated my employment definitely felt like the rug was being pulled out from under me.

I have been working through my stress and emotions since then, as well as my own limiting thoughts and behaviors. I have had a lot of resentment from a variety of sources that I’ve been working through, as well as trying to take the time I’ve needed to get back to a place of well-being and self-care.

At this juncture, I don’t have all the answers I’ve been seeking. I am still going through a lot of the anxiety that’s been holding me back. Now, though, I’ve run out of time. I gave myself a limit and I’ve reached it. I’m still at a loss for a solid solution, but I’m going to move forward. It’s all I can do right now.

So, in an effort to start fresh, I’ve done some housekeeping.

I’ve changed the layout of this blog and uploaded my WIP Wednesday for today as the banner image. I’ve also gone through and deleted all of the posts on my Patreon. Starting fresh. And, one step further, I’ve created a Ko-fi account.

I’m not going to make a promise here to adhere to a set schedule. I’m going to be taking baby steps to get back into drawing for myself and for an audience. It’s been a challenge to do so without feeling guilty that I should be doing “something more productive”/something that makes money.

So, here’s to starting over! I hope it goes well.

If you would like to provide a one-time donation to help me continue with my art, please consider buying my a coffee on Ko-fi (a one-time donation for approximately the cost of a coffee).

If you would like to become a patron and receive regular rewards, please go check out my Patreon and look over the tiered options (this is a set amount that is charged whenever I post new content and can be set to have a monthly limit).
